The next time you have to decide between McDonalds or Subway, try Purcellville’s new and authentic Greek bakery-cafe-deli, located on Main Street next to Giant. Perfect for a quick lunch, coffee, a fresh pastry, a beautiful cake, or a scoop of Hershey’s Ice Cream, My Deli boasts homemade baklava, fresh bread, and a variety of subs and salads.

Specialties include the My Deli Sub for $6.25 made with salami, feta cheese, calamata olives, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and Greek dressing, or The Famous Italian Sub for $6.95 and includes ham, salami, mortadella, gouda cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and vinaigrette dressing.

Opened two weeks ago by the Vatikiotis family-George, Vana, Tasos, and Stelios-business has been steady and good. “All of our food is good”, said Tasos, George and Vana’s son.

“When I first came here I was a mechanic and I didn’t speak English”, said George, who came to the United States from Greece. Because of the language problem, his best option was to work in restaurants, and he eventually opened his first restaurant, “Prima Pizzeria”, with his brother in Falls Church. George later moved back to Greece and opened another restaurant, “Have a Bite”, in Athens, Greece, for a time before moving back to the U.S. in 1987.

Now, four restaurants and 35 years of experience later, George and his family are pleased to offer a taste of Greece to Purcellville. For hours or more information, call 540.751.2077.
